Why go there
Urunga’s main attraction is its quiet and relaxed atmosphere. In an area blessed with a superb year-round climate and marvellous beaches, it is one of the area's lesser known retreats. Despite its lack of celebrity status, the town is within easy reach of the multi-faceted attractions of the Coffs Harbour Holiday Coast.
History
The Gumbaynggir (or Kumbangerie) Aboriginal people were the original inhabitants of the region, living off the food resource abounding in the local river estuaries. A port grew up around the river trade but it was not “discovered” until comparatively recently, and it has become popular with those in search of year-round warmth, good leisure facilities and a quiet lifestyle.

- Taste the wines at Raleigh Vineyard and Winery, one of Australia's most easterly vineyards, off the Pacific Highway just north of Urunga.
