Parramatta features a legacy of historic buildings

The second oldest European settlement in the country, Parramatta has a brilliant legacy of colonial buildings, including churches, military facilities, houses and public buildings, several of which survive as museums. Many of these can be found within Parramatta Park, alongside the Parramatta River. In Ruse Street, Experiment Farm Cottage is a simple colonial cottage, while Elizabeth Farm in Rosehill is Australia’s oldest house, built by John Macarthur, father of Australia's wool industry, and named after his wife.

A local community initiative, Parramatta Artists Studios has 15 studios that host an annual program of events, workshops, arts activities and exhibitions.

Riverside Theatres is Parramatta's cultural heart, offering a rich diet of music, dance, theatrical productions and comedy.
